We know you're busy, so you can choose your own path to becoming a “real” Girl Scout. Sign up for an outdoors series designed to perfect your hiking skills, learn how to swim at a session of summer camp, help plan a group trip and travel overseas, collect donations of socks and underwear for a Project Undercover event, join an afterschool troop – or do it all. You decide the pathway that's right for you.

Camp

Whether you're an experienced outdoorswoman or not, the camp pathway includes day and overnight camps, one-day camping events and lots of other fun ways to enjoy the out-of-doors. For more information about day and overnight camps, click here.

If you're a girl who has a free day now and then and is looking for something fun and meaningful to do, check out our Program Guide (PDF) for one-time events that may be of interest to you. For example, collect underwear and socks for our annual service project, Project Undercover or attend a performance of A Christmas Carol at Trinity Rep with other Girl Scouts.

series

This is your chance to delve deeper into a single area of interest like hiking, cooking or archery. Series give you the chance to participate in ongoing programs (of varying lengths) outside of a troop. Check out our Program Guide (PDF) for series currently offered in your grade level.

Troops

Troops are groups of girls of the same age who meet regularly (once a week, every other week or monthly) to pursue the Girl Scout Leadership Experience with the help of trained troop leaders. Each group decides what they want to do – working on badges, pursuing journeys, earning higher awards, planning camping trips or community service projects, taking part in the Girl Scout Cookie Sale or whatever else is of interest!

Travel

Want to see more of the world? Combine your efforts with a group of like-minded girls and, with the guidance of a trained (and equally adventurous!) adult, plan the trip, raise the money and explore the world. GSSNE groups have explored France; Spain; Washington, DC; New York City, Savannah, GA and beyond.

Who Can Join?

Girl Scouting welcomes all girls, grades K–12 who agree to:

• Share the Girl Scout Promise and Law
• Follow safety guidelines
• Pay annual registration fee of $25/girl. This includes $15/year national membership dues and a $10/year council service fee which stays right here at home.

Our council – Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England – serves girls who live in Rhode Island and in Attleboro, Bellingham, Blackstone, Fall River, Millville, North Attleboro, Plainville, Rehoboth, Seekonk, Somerset, Swansea, Westport and Wrentham, MA and in Pawcatuck, CT.

Grade Levels

Whether you're a Girl Scout Daisy or a Girl Scout Junior depends on what grade you're in:

• Girl Scout Daisy, grades K–1
• Girl Scout Brownie, grades 2–3
• Girl Scout Junior, grades 4–5
• Girl Scout Cadette, grades 6–8
• Girl Scout Senior , grades 9–10
• Girl Scout Ambassador, grades 11–12

Journeys

What makes a great Girl Scout year? Earning badges, hiking and camping, taking field trips, selling cookies, and enjoying Girl Scout traditions. Now you can tie all that together with a choice of three “leadership journeys”.

Do I have to sell Cookies?

No, but you'll probably want to! It's big! Nationally, 200 million packages of Girl Scout cookies are sold each year – that's $700 million dollars worth! From its earliest beginnings to its current popularity, the sale of cookies has helped Girl Scouts have fun, develop valuable life skills and make the world a better place by helping to support Girl Scouting in their communities. Girls are proud that their efforts provide resources for their local Girl Scout councils and for their own Girl Scout troops/groups.

Do I have to Wear a Uniform?

Girl Scouts at each level have just one required element (tunic, sash or vest) for the display of official pins and awards. Wear your tunic, sash or vest with your own solid white shirt and khaki pants or skirts. This uniform is required when you participate in ceremonies or officially represent the Girl Scouts That's it!
